Then began the first of what would be several practical jokes ‘Aya-chan’ would play on me.
Younger girls would gasp in the subway stations, older women would blush as they peered from shops -;’Aya-chan’ held her head high as if I were a new Prada bag.
Men were polite -younger men were indifferent, but the older men (security guards and taxi drivers) were particularly friendly.
